Turner Falls
There's waterfalls in Oklahoma? What? I know its crazy. Everyone thinks Oklahoma is a flat nothingness with a bunch of cows. Well that kinda true. But the fun fact is that Oklahoma is actually covered up to 75% with trees! And being an east coast girl I have to have my trees. Unfortunately living in the center of Oklahoma this is the area where there are not so many trees. This is why I ventured down to Turner Falls in Davis, Oklahoma. It about a two hour drive from Oklahoma City. Also if you are going, they say they have military discount but it is just for active duty members.
Getting to the park is about 10 minutes off the highway. You come to a parking lot and the falls are right next to it. So there is no real hiking to the falls but there is a lot of hiking around them and on top of them. As well when you are approaching the falls, there is Oklahoma's first castle up the hill from the parking lot. It is a medieval style castle built in 1930.

There is about 3 different rooms in the castle. Most of it is covered in ivy, But it felt like I was taken back in time. Or at least put in to a Game of Thrones Episode. (Side note I'm a huge Game of Thrones Fan!)
To get up to the top of the castle there are several very narrow steps. When it's a busy day its a little crowded and hard to get to but defiantly worth the visit.

Oh and while we were up there, we being my roommate Chelsey and I, We found out that there is also a zip line you can do over the falls. We didn't really figure out how to get to it since we were there to hike. But that is also an option is you end up in Turner Falls.
Ok now back to the Falls. When you get up to them, there is a beach and an area for you to go for a nice swim. As well as a viewing bridge that gives you a great view of the falls. But one of the best parts is the cave that is right next to it. You can climb up to the cave, It's an easy basic rock climb, for my rock climbers its probably like a V0 maybe a V1. Chelsey and I did it in our Chacos, (Chacos are hiking sandals for those of you who don't know). The only hard part is when there are a lot of people. You have to cross this really narrow ledge to get into the cave.

The falls are to the right of the cave, But its a good location to stop if you get there later in the day and want to have some lunch.
There is also a couple of other trail around the falls that are covers with trees that you can go on.
After we did those we went up over the falls. There are some shallow areas but also areas that a really deep. We ended up stopping on a rock in the middle of the water to have some lunch. I should have brought my hammock cause it would have been a perfect place for it.
After lunch we venture higher over the Falls and did some more rock climbing. We found a natural hole in the rock that was like a window to the falls. This was probably one of the best views of the waterfall!
We then ventured up higher to the top of the hill, where we could see for miles. Once we made our way back down the hill and headed back to the car we ended up stopping in Sulphur, OK. Which is just about 30 minutes north east of Davis. We were hoping to see a bunch of wild flowers but only got bits and pieces. Chelsey almost ran into a rattle snake there though, So watch out for those. Sulphur is a very cute town that is wroth visiting, Lots of old buildings. But the biggest attraction there is the lake. All in all I was amazed to see that there was a legitimate waterfall in Oklahoma. It was a great weekend day trip that me and Chelsey really needed! There is a Snapchat Video below of how we spent the day!
